Subject property 914-16 S 15th Street, which received a request for an exterior survey. Property has four year old roof, 2 year old vinyl windows and the exterior was painted in 2009. All adjoining property picture are within 50 yards. Our property was occupied by African American tenants at the time the orders were issues. The adjoining properties without orders were occupied primarily by Hispanic owner occupants.

The roof has failed, it is in serious need of painting, some siding, debris in the yard for ten years, even after prior complaints, and a bunch of little maintenance.
Yet, no orders, no Aldermanic or other requests for exterior inspections prior to this one My guess is because it is occupied by Latino homeowners, rather than Black tenants, as ours is.

1428 W Mineral: No orders, no request for service. The garage, which faces our property, probably hasn’t been painted since the seventies. The front porch has failed.
Below: 1435 W Walker: No open orders, no complaints. Needs paint, failing porch, missing trim, broken siding, needs paint. This one shows on MPROP as a rooming house, so inspection had to have been out. The inspector issued an advisor only on the trim. If this property was ours the porches would have been condemned
This is an example of an owner occupied house with ALL orders abated. The orders were based on our 2010 exterior complaint.
If we had anything in the condition of this home’s “after repair” state I would expect an order. In fact I would be embarrassed. Yet as this is a White owner occupied property I guess the standard of repairs are quite a bit different.
